SomaVerse offers ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) to adults in Topeka and Shawnee County. Your in-office ketamine troche sessions, therapy and integration can all happen at our office at 5020 SW 28th St, Suite 204. Your medical evaluation can be in person or by secure video.
We put that up front on purpose. Plenty of websites promise “ketamine in Topeka” without saying where the medicine is actually given. We’d rather you know exactly how it works before you call, so you can plan your rides and your time off.
The one thing that takes you down the interstate is group work. Group journeys, booster groups and our weekend retreats meet in Lawrence, about 30 minutes east on I-70, where our group space is.
Topeka clients often come to us when…
- You’ve tried two or three antidepressants through your doctor and still feel like you’re moving through mud.
- You want ketamine care with a therapist attached, not just a medication appointment.
- You served, or you still serve as a first responder, and the usual approaches haven’t touched what you carry.
- You’re a state employee or Washburn staffer who wants care close to work, with sessions planned around a day off.
- You live west of town, in Silver Lake, Rossville or even Manhattan, and want to keep driving to a minimum.
- You’ve heard about ketamine retreats and wonder whether a weekend in Lawrence could be a starting point.
What happens at our Topeka office
Our Topeka office is part of Mind & Body Healing Collective, the practice SomaVerse grew out of, at 5020 SW 28th St, Suite 204. Here you can do your in-office ketamine troche sessions, and meet with a ketamine-trained therapist for preparation before your sessions and for integration therapy afterward.
Preparation means naming what you hope to explore, what scares you about it, and what support looks like at home. Integration means making sense of what surfaced during a session and turning it into something you actually do differently. Both are where much of the lasting change in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy takes shape, and both work beautifully close to home.
Your medical evaluation may be in person or by secure video, depending on current DEA and state rules. Our medical team, led by Angel Patterson-Tetuan, PMHNP-BC, our Psychiatry & Ketamine Medical Director, decides whether ketamine is right for you.
Your troche sessions in Topeka
In office: everyone starts here. Ketamine troche sessions are offered at all of our offices, including Topeka. You arrive at SW 28th Street, check in with your guide or therapist, have your blood pressure taken, and settle in with a blanket, eye shades and music for a session that lasts a couple of hours. Someone else drives you home afterward.
At home, later: once you’ve completed at least our main program with us and are medically approved, you may be approved to continue troche sessions at home in your own living room in Topeka. The FDA warned in 2023 about compounded ketamine used at home without adequate monitoring, and we take that seriously. You’ll need a sober support person with you, locked storage for your troches, a medical check-in after every dose and no driving for the rest of the day.
In a group: group journeys, booster groups and weekend retreats meet in Lawrence, where our group space is, about 30 minutes east on I-70.
What a month can look like from Topeka
Everyone’s plan is different, but here’s one realistic rhythm for a Topeka client starting the 6-session Individual Ketamine Healing Package ($480). The point is to show how much of it stays in Topeka.
- Week 1: medical evaluation (in person or by secure video), then a preparation session with your therapist in Topeka
- Week 2: first troche session at our SW 28th Street office; a friend drives you home afterward
- Two days later: integration session with your therapist on SW 28th Street
- Weeks 3–4: your next in-office sessions in Topeka, plus an integration group
- Throughout: a medical check-in after every dose, and guide sessions to help you prepare and reflect
For veterans and first responders in Topeka
Topeka is home to the Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center and to a lot of people who have spent careers in uniform: soldiers, deputies, firefighters, corrections officers, nurses. Many of them carry trauma that standard treatment has only partly reached. Research on ketamine for PTSD is encouraging, including a 2021 controlled trial of repeated IV ketamine, though evidence for sublingual ketamine with therapy is still earlier-stage. Learn more on our ketamine for PTSD page.
If you get care at the VA, you don’t have to choose between us. With your written permission, we’ll coordinate with your VA clinicians so everyone knows what you’re doing. TRICARE and TriWest are among the plans we may bill for eligible medical and therapy visits. The ketamine itself, guide sessions and groups are self-pay.
Coming from Manhattan, Junction City or Emporia
Topeka is often the closest SomaVerse office for clients farther west and south, since troche sessions happen right here. Therapy and integration can happen by telehealth anywhere in Kansas, so the drive mostly matters on dosing days. From Manhattan, our Topeka office is a straight shot east on I-70.
For people farther out, a weekend retreat can be an efficient way to begin. Into the SomaVerse brings 6–10 people to our Kentucky Street house in Lawrence for $999 per participant, including your ketamine prescription, three days of group journeying, integration group work, expressive arts, meals, preparation and two post-integration sessions. The medical evaluation is billed separately, with insurance filed where it applies.
If you need help right now in Topeka
SomaVerse is not an emergency service. If you’re in crisis, call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline; veterans can press 1 after dialing to reach the Veterans Crisis Line. For an emergency, call 911 or go to the emergency department at Stormont Vail.
Valeo Behavioral Health Care is Shawnee County’s community mental health center and offers crisis services as well as ongoing care. We’re glad to work alongside Valeo, Stormont Vail or your VA team as part of a wider safety net.
