Yes, Missouri residents can do ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) with SomaVerse. The simplest way is in person in Kansas: your medical evaluation and troche sessions can happen at our Overland Park office, about 20 minutes from downtown Kansas City, or at our Lawrence or Topeka offices, and group journeys and retreats meet in Lawrence. Some telehealth care is possible from Missouri too.
Why the distinction? Health care licensing follows where you are physically sitting during a visit, not where you live or where the clinician is. When you’re in our Kansas office, Kansas rules apply. When you join a video visit from your living room in Lee’s Summit, Missouri rules apply, and they’re stricter for controlled medications like ketamine.
We’d rather explain this honestly than promise something we can’t deliver. Below is what we can offer Missouri residents today, what depends on your situation, and what to ask us.
Why where you’re sitting matters
Missouri requires anyone treating a patient who is physically in Missouri, including by telehealth, to hold a Missouri license. For prescriptions, Missouri law also requires a genuine provider-patient relationship first: a history, an appropriate exam, a discussion of risks and benefits, and follow-up. No prescribing off an online questionnaire.
Controlled medications add another layer. Ketamine is a Schedule III controlled substance, and prescribing it to someone located in Missouri involves Missouri’s own controlled-substance registration, which is tied to a practice location in Missouri, along with federal DEA rules. Federal telemedicine flexibilities for controlled substances currently run through December 31, 2026, and new rules are expected. Those details are why we handle at-home dosing in Missouri case by case.
What you can do in person in Kansas
Almost everything. When you come to our Overland Park office at 10100 W 87th St, you’re in Kansas, and you can do your medical evaluation, therapy, preparation, in-office dosing sessions and integration there. Many Kansas City, Missouri, clients find it no farther than driving across their own side of town.
Our weekend retreats in Lawrence are open to Missouri residents too. Into the SomaVerse is $999 per participant for a small group of 6–10 people, and includes your ketamine prescription, three days of group journeying, integration group work, expressive arts, meals, preparation and two post-integration sessions. The medical evaluation is billed separately. After a program, the SomaVerse Booster Group ($150) also meets in Lawrence.
One practical note: you can’t drive for the rest of the day after a dosing session, so plan for a friend, family member or rideshare to get you back home across State Line.
What’s possible by telehealth from Missouri
Psychiatric care: Angel Patterson-Tetuan, PMHNP-BC, our Psychiatry & Ketamine Medical Director, is licensed in both Kansas and Missouri and sees clients by telehealth as well as in Overland Park and Lawrence.
Therapy and integration: for a video therapy session while you’re in Missouri, your therapist needs a Missouri license. Mind & Body Healing Collective offers telehealth in Missouri depending on clinician licensure, so availability varies. Ask us who is available when you call. Any session you attend in person in Kansas can be with any of our ketamine-trained therapists.
At-home dosing in Missouri: ask us
We don’t advertise at-home ketamine dosing for people located in Missouri. For everyone, at-home sessions are only an option after you’ve completed at least our main program with us and are medically approved. In Missouri, whether it’s possible also depends on Missouri’s controlled-substance registration rules, federal telemedicine rules that are changing at the end of 2026, and your own medical picture.
If at-home sessions matter to you, ask us directly. We’ll tell you honestly what’s possible right now. For many Missouri clients, in-office sessions in Overland Park turn out to be simpler anyway, and they come with a calm room and a guide nearby.
Coming from St. Joseph, Columbia or rural Missouri
We see clients from well beyond the metro. From Columbia, Lawrence is about two and a half hours away, and Overland Park is closer. Clients from St. Joseph, Warrensburg and Sedalia usually come to Overland Park for in-office sessions.
For longer drives, a weekend retreat can be an efficient way to begin: one trip, a concentrated experience with a group, and a clear plan for integration afterward. We’ll help you think through the right next step once you’re home, including telehealth options with Missouri-licensed clinicians where available.
Psychedelic therapy and Missouri law
Ketamine is a legal prescription medication in both Missouri and Kansas, and its use for mental health is off-label. Troches are compounded and not FDA-evaluated, and the FDA has warned about at-home use of compounded ketamine without proper monitoring.
Psilocybin remains illegal in Missouri. A bill to study psilocybin therapy for veterans and first responders passed the Missouri House in April 2026 but stalled in the Senate. SomaVerse doesn’t provide psilocybin or other illegal substances. We do offer psychedelic integration for people making sense of experiences they’ve had elsewhere. Our guide to ketamine laws in Kansas and Missouri goes deeper.
